Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Sirr answered.

Account and Identity

How do decentralized accounts work?

Your BSC wallet address is your account. No registration required - just connect your wallet or create a new one. You completely own your identity, protected by your private key.

Detailed explanation:

  • Your wallet address (e.g., 0x742d...) is your unique identifier
  • No need to provide email, phone number, or other personal information
  • You control the private key = You control the account
  • If you lose your private key, no one (including us) can help you recover your account

Can I use my existing wallet?

Yes! You can:

  • Import an existing BNBChain wallet
  • Connect with MetaMask or other Web3 wallets
  • Or let Sirr create a new wallet for you

What if I lose my phone?

If you saved your recovery phrase (seed phrase), you can:

  1. Install Sirr on a new device
  2. Select "Import Wallet"
  3. Enter your 12/24 word recovery phrase
  4. Recover your account and all messages

Important: Always save your recovery phrase safely!

Wallet Features

What can the built-in wallet do?

The built-in BSC wallet can:

  • Manage BNB and BEP-20 tokens
  • Send instant transfers to contacts
  • Create and claim red envelopes
  • View transaction history
  • All without leaving the app

Which tokens are supported?

Sirr supports:

  • BNB (native token)
  • All BEP-20 tokens, including:
    • USDT (Tether)
    • USDC (USD Coin)
    • BUSD (Binance USD)
    • And thousands of other tokens

You can add any custom BEP-20 token by contract address.

What are the gas fees?

  • Messages: Completely free, no gas fees
  • Token transfers: Requires small amount of BNB for gas
  • Red envelopes: Same gas fees as regular transfers

Typical BNB transfer costs around $0.10-0.50, depending on network congestion.

Is my wallet safe?

Yes! Your wallet is very safe because:

  • Private keys never leave your device
  • All transactions are signed locally on your device
  • We cannot access your funds
  • Protected by BSC blockchain

Red Envelope Feature

How do red envelopes work?

Red envelopes let you share cryptocurrency with friends in chat:

  1. Create Red Envelope

    • Tap the red envelope icon in chat
    • Select token type (BNB or others)
    • Enter total amount and number of envelopes
    • Confirm transaction
  2. Send

    • Red envelope appears in chat
    • Group members can tap to claim
  3. Claim

    • Tap the red envelope
    • Tokens are instantly added to your wallet

How are red envelopes distributed?

Two distribution methods:

  • Random Red Envelopes: Each envelope amount is random, first come first served
  • Equal Red Envelopes: Each envelope amount is equal

What happens to unclaimed red envelopes?

  • Unclaimed red envelopes are returned to sender after 24 hours
  • You can check red envelope status anytime
  • See who claimed how much

Security and Privacy

Are messages and transactions secure?

Yes!

  • Messages: OpenPGP end-to-end encryption
  • Transactions: Protected by BSC blockchain
  • Private Keys: Never leave your device
  • Full Control: You have complete control

Can Sirr read my messages?

No. Due to end-to-end encryption:

  • Only you and the recipient can decrypt messages
  • Sirr servers only see encrypted data
  • We cannot read your message content
  • Even if we wanted to, we can't

Where is my data stored?

  • Messages: Encrypted and stored on mail servers
  • Private Keys: Only on your device
  • Contacts: Stored locally on your device
  • Transactions: Recorded on BSC blockchain (publicly visible)

What about metadata?

We minimize metadata collection:

  • Servers only see encrypted messages
  • We don't collect IP addresses
  • No analytics or tracking
  • You can use VPN or Tor for additional protection

Technical Questions

Why OpenPGP?

OpenPGP is one of the most trusted encryption standards:

  • In use since 1991

Do I need to run my own node?

No! You can:

  • Use Sirr's default nodes (easiest)
